Last week President Obama nominated Alejandro Mayorkas as the new Director of the U.S. Citizenship & Immigration Service (“USCIS”). Mr. Mayorkas, an attorney, brings an impressive resume to the position, including once being the youngest U.S. Attorney in the nation. Born in Cuba, Mr. Mayorkas hopefully brings a first hand understanding of the problems that immigrants face and will improve USCIS’s service and commitment.
